Seiko Instruments Inc. (abbreviated:SII, COO: Akio Irie, Head office:8, Nakase, 1-Chome, Mihama-ku, Chiba-shi, Chiba. TEL:+81-43-211-1111) has published the “environmental report 2002” in which environmental preservation activity of the SII group in the 2001 fiscal year has been summarized. The SII group has taken up the environmental problem of global warming as the most important element of the management subject, and have made determined efforts to tackle the environmental preservation activities positively. As a tool to report the information on such activities to the wider audience of the persons concerned (stakeholders), the environmental reports were drawn up since 1996, and this publication is the 7th issue this time.
This “environmental report 2002” has been prepared by referring to the “environmental report guideline” of the Ministry of Environment. The composition of the subject matter has been reformed completely in the light of the guideline, and the simple and intelligible report has been produced. The important subject of the relation of the active conduct of business and environmental load, which was not covered in the conventional reports, was included together with the topics of present situation of communication, and the related environmental consideration for physical distribution of the products.
About the measures taken for the environmental consideration of the products, especially the report about the label system introduced in the 2001 fiscal year can be pointed out for achieving substantial results. Moreover, the environmental data of the main manufacture base was exhibited for the first time for the compliance of the regulatory provisions. Further enhancement of the subject matter with enriching content is planned from the next year onward.
