The Chinese learner’s electronic dictionary “SR-T7030” includes Shogakukan’s “Chuunichi Jiten” (“Chinese/Japanese Dictionary”) and “Nichichuu Jiten” (“Japanese/Chinese Dictionary”) as well as DHC’s “Chuugokugo Kaiwa Tossa no Hitokoto Jiten” (“Dictionary of Chinese for Unexpected Situations”), offering practical conversational speech for Chinese language learning, business and travel for beginners and advanced students alike. In addition, the dictionary includes the “Reader’s English/Japanese Dictionary,” “Reader’s Plus” and the “New College Japanese/English Dictionary,” permitting the simultaneous study of Chinese and English, along with the encyclopedia “Mai Pedia,” resulting in a lineup that is sure to expand the user’s knowledge of the Japanese language as well.
The dictionary allows the user to search for Chinese conversational phrases based on a Japanese keyword, and presents pinyin notation (in Roman Characters) for the phrases, making the dictionary extremely easy to use. With the expansion of business in China and the resultant increase in persons that require Chinese language capabilities, the dictionary is ideal for those who want to learn as well as those who want to polish their Chinese language skills.
SII is also simultaneously releasing the model “SR-T7030MG,” a limited edition that is the first in the industry (*1) to be designed with a lightweight and durable magnesium material. (The dictionary includes the same dictionaries and features as SR-T7030.) SR-T7030MG employs magnesium which is considered a lightweight metal for practical use, making SR-T7030MG the lightest (*2) electronic dictionary of its class at 195 g. Magnesium is an attention-getting material superior in characteristics such as strength, rigidity and impact resistance that is used with cellular phones and PCs. By utilizing this material with T7030MG, SII has increased the electronic dictionary’s toughness. With properties such as excellent recycling efficiency as well, Magnesium is considered eco-friendly. SR-T7030MG, with its wave-like stylish design, is being offered for a limited time with production set at 3,000 units. In the future, SII plans on utilizing the light and durable magnesium material in new products as well.
SR-T7030 and SR-7030MG feature a full keyboard and PC-touch specification called “kaiteki in Japanese” with a lighter, thinner compact body and are equipped with features unique to SII electronic dictionaries, such as the real-time search & preview feature and example sentence search feature, rendering the dictionaries exceptional and easy to use.In addition, the new models to be released are environment-conscious product (green product) certified by SII company standards in accordance with ISO 14021 Environmental Label Type II (self-declared environmental claim).

The “Reader’s English/Japanese Dictionary” offers a great amount of information such as technical words from a variety of fields such as medicine, science, engineering and the arts, as well as new words, spoken language and slang, while “Reader’s Plus” presents a treasure of encyclopedia-type entries not included in Reader’s. The electronic dictionary offers both of these English/Japanese dictionaries in a single unit.
4. Hitachi Systems & Services’ “Hyakkajiten Mai Pedia Denshijishoban” (“My Encyclopedia, Electronic Dictionary Version”)

This dictionary offers clear and concise information covering a variety of different genres. The volume serves as an encyclopedia filled with a wealth of entries across a variety of fields such as history, ethnicity, economics, industry and world affairs. *”Mai Pedia” (“My Encyclopedia”) has not been published in book form as of June 2004. The book form (published by Heibonsha, Ltd.) includes revisions and additions to the latest data and entries.

1. Permits Chinese and English conversational phrase searches based on Japanese keywords
The new dictionary allows the user to search for conversational phrases by entering the keyword in Japanese. The conversational phrase is displayed in both pinyin (Roman characters) and katakana, making the dictionary exceptionally useful.
2. A “four tone entry key” that allows the user to switch the view to four-tone specific pinyin notation with a press of a button
Chinese pinyin vowel sounds are described using four types of marks, including “-“, which express the intonation and inflection required in word pronunciation. By including the “four-tone entry key” feature which allows the user to switch the view to four-tone specific pinyin notation with a press of a button, the new dictionary promotes easy understanding of character meaning and pronunciation.
3. Automatic identification of Chinese (pinyin display), English or Japanese language words, enabling easy transition to other dictionaries
The “super jump feature” automatically identifies whether the word specified by the cursor is Japanese, English or Chinese, allowing the user to jump to a dictionary of choice.
4. A real-time search & preview feature that decreases the number of operational steps
This feature simultaneously executes a real-time search while suggesting and narrowing down possible entries as the user enters each character, giving a preview in the lower half of the same screen to display the translation of the possible entry highlighted above.
5. A conjugation search engine “word inflector feature” that allows the user to search for a word without paying attention to word form
The word inflector feature displays the root form of a conjugated word.
6. Provided with a full and PC-like keyboard called “kaiteki in Japanese” that enables easy input
This full keyboard designed for a thin body is even easier to use than the keyboards of previous models. The key layout is designed as close as possible to that of a PC, enabling natural key operation without discomfort and preventing input errors.
