SII Merges Entry System Division with SII Data Service Corporation

Seiko Instruments Inc. (Abbreviation: SII; President, COO & CFO: Yukihiko Chayama; Head Office: 1-8 Nakase, Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture; Tel: 043-211-1111) will branch off and merge its Entry System Division (hereinafter referred to as ES Division) into its wholly owned subsidiary SII Data Service Corporation (hereinafter referred to as SDS; President: Nobuo Kubo) as of November 1, 2004.

The ES Division created the first order entry system (OES) in Japan, enhancing the delivery performance of many eating and drinking establishments, focusing on major family restaurant and pub chains, thereby greatly contributing to the improvement of the restaurant efficiency and productivity provided to the food service industry user.
On the other hand, SDS, since its establishment in 1998, has provided a wireless solution service (CREPiCO) in the mobile environment through the development and management of wireless solution terminals and data centers. In particular, SDS maintains a high market share with its wireless solution system for the taxi industry that realizes a meter-linked online credit service.

This merger is designed to facilitate a more comprehensive response to the requirements of the respective specialties of the entities, namely the food service industry and wireless solution market, thereby realizing higher value-added products and service development. In addition, by fusing the know-how and services of both businesses, with a central focus on wireless technologies, SII will cultivate new needs which will bring forth the realization of service productivity improvements via compact portable terminals and systems.

In the future as well, the SII Group aims to continue to construct an optimal business system for improving customer satisfaction.
