Seiko Instruments Inc. (Abbreviation: SII; President, CEO, COO & CFO: Yukihiko Chayama; Head Office: 1-8 Nakase, Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture; Tel: 043-211-1111) will merge as of June 1, 2005 its wholly-owned subsidiary “SII P & S Inc.” (Abbreviation: SPS; President: Shinji Nureki) involved in manufacturing and marketing of mini-thermal printers.
Looking back on SII’s printer business, SII embarked upon the mini-thermal printer business in 1982 and established its wholly-owned subsidiary SPS to develop, manufacture and market mini-thermal printers and peripheral devices in 2001. Since its independence from SII, SPS has been aggressively committed to the development of lightweight, low power consumption and fast mini-thermal printers to meet customers’ needs in the growing digital age and has achieved stirring success in the market of EFT-POS and ECR.
This merge aims to respond to the widest possible range of market needs. To do this, SII fosters to strengthen SII’s printer business base by creating a synergy effect of SII proprietary technologies and businesses.
