SII Helpline and Consultation Service

We have established the SII Helpline and the Consultation Service aiming at early detection and correction of alleged breaches of any legal or regulatory obligations, or unethical behavior caused by our employees. Although these two services were once available only for our employees, since August 2007 the SII Helpline and the Consultation Service have become available for our clients from the viewpoint that such expansion of the availability of these services would contribute to promoting good, fair and healthy business relationships between SII and our clients.In addition, the SII Helpline and the Consultation Service are available to anyone who notice the misconduct committed by our employees in our research activities or collaborative research.

You can use the SII Helpline or the Consultation Service by following the guides below to report or consult about your concerns or suspicions regarding our employee’s violation of laws, or unethical behaviors.

We will, promptly, handle all reports brought to the SII helpline or the Consultation Service, and investigate the case contained in the reports and/or take measure to the reports in order to early detect and correct such violation of laws, or unethical behaviors.


Note

When you use the SII Helpline or the Consultation Service:
a) please provide your name and contact information to the SII Helpline or the Consultation Service. If you use the SII Helpline, lawyers in charge of the SII Helpline will inform us about your report on an anonymous basis not giving us any identifiable information about you unless you consent to disclosing your identifiable information to us in advance;

b) please provide specific information on such violation of laws or unethical behavior and inform of who caused such violation or behavior, which would contribute to early detection and correction.

We will use the information in your report only to investigate the case contained in the report and take measure to the report, and your privacy will be entirely protected and your identifiable information like your name, contact information and others will be never disclosed to any person other than SII’s employees and external lawyers who are in charge of investigating the case and taking measure to the report, without your prior consent thereto.

You won’t be given any disadvantage for the reason that you used the SII Helpline or the Consultation Service unless you use the SII helpline or the Consultation Service mainly for improper purpose like aiming at slander, threat or extortion to others or other dishonest purpose.
