Seiko Instruments Inc. (Abbreviation: SII; President, COO & CFO: Yukihiko Chayama; Head Office: 1-8 Nakase, Mihama-ku, Chiba, Chiba Prefecture, Japan) will be exhibiting its new watch collections at the BASEL WORLD 2004 – the world’s largest watch and jewellery show — to be held in Switzerland from April 15 through April 22. We will be featuring four brands: Issey Miyake, Alessi, Walt Disney , Appetime and J. Spring.
[Issey Miyake]
The second-generation Vakio 2 designed by the young Finnish industrial designer Harri Koskinen. Its sculptural dial creates an image of northland covered with snow as white as a mysterious veil and its lime green-second hand excites the imagination of fresh leaves of spring. Round shape heightens soft and gentle image.
[Alessi]
Alessi is a top maker of Italian-housewares and lifestyle goods featuringinnovative designs. This new Alessi Watch series meets customers expectation to wear “Italian Art” on the arm. The Luna series designed by the world famous master artist and architect Alessandro Mendini heightens an image of serenity of the moon and the concept of time on the round shape. It streamlines function and simplifies design. Five models in stainless steel bracelet or leather bands are available.
[Walt Disney]
We introduce a revolutionary line of watches called Disney SNAP. With its patented technologies, Disney SNAP does what no other timepiece on the market can do. Appetime is an SII original brand made in Japan and are making their global debut. New Appetime KAI series includes quartz and mechanical models under the theme”Japan and Japanese- style”.The images are expressed exquisitely in the faces with the flow of waters as well as in their inscribed mark on the case back–a tortoiseshell motif–in the manner of a noble crest.It embraces the cultural and design concept of the island nation of Japan in the dials hands and bands of these watches and in their colors and textures.
[J.Springs]
Its sharp design arranges vivid-yellow sub-hands on the sunray blue dial which creates an image of sunlight streaming into deep ocean.The sub-dial finished by radial patterns and the calendar window at the 5 o’clock position emphasize the originality.SII’s made-in Japan movement is mounted on the stainless steel body. An all pure metal band gives massive impression, 1/10 chronograph, 10 bar waterproof.
