Seiko Instruments Establishes Corporate Social Responsibility Committee

Seiko Instruments (SII) has established a new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee to guide and accelerate CSR activities throughout the corporation world wide. This new committee is chaired by Yukihiko Chayama, SII President, COO, and CFO.

By proactively implementing CSR throughout their organizations, good corporate citizens demonstrate their commitment to mankind’s quest for a responsible and sustainable society. SII has existing ad-hoc committees dedicated to specific CSR challenges such as regulatory compliance and environmental preservation. The new corporate level committee is chartered with the responsibility of steering, coordinating, and expanding SII’s CSR activities across the entire corporation.

The committee is composed of key representatives from each headquarters and division organization with Mr. Chayama serving as the committee chairman. Positioned as the corporate level umbrella committee for all SII CSR initiatives, the committee is dedicated to raising the level of CSR awareness among managers and employees as well as actively promoting the implementation of targeted CSR themes.

Last Fall SII reaffirmed its core values – Integrity – Trust – Appreciation, and changed its official Japanese company name. Guided by these three core values, SII strives to contribute to a sustainable, healthy, and more satisfied society and environment emphasizing coexistence and harmony. At the same time, SII is dedicated to unflaggingly creating new value by applying its skill, craftsmanship and accumulated knowledge.
