Seiko I Infotech Inc. (SIIT) introduces a new wide format multifunction printer Teriostar LP-2050 series The world’s smallest compact design: 1200 mm/47″ (Width) x 640 mm/25″ (Depth) *1

Japan, November 1st, 2010 – Seiko I Infotech Inc. (SIIT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko Instruments Inc., has released the Teriostar LP-2050 series, a mid-class wide-format, multifunction printer (4-roll model) with the world’s first user-replaceable process cartridge. The Teriostar LP-2050 series offers two models: the LP-2050-MF, a multifunction model integrating copy, scan, and print functions, and the LP-2050, a printer model. Shipments will begin in December, 2010.

SIIT has recently developed a high-performance print engine and scanner, which allow the LP-2050 series to achieve print speeds of 9 A1-size prints per minute, 9.5 D-size prints per minute, and scanning speeds of up to 240 mm/9.4″per second. Combining these two features, LP-2050 series will improve workflow and workplace productivity, which are increasingly needed in today’s competitive market. With an optional color scanning upgrade, the LP-2050-MF allows users to scan and send drawings with redline markups, which meet the needs of color data in engineering industry.

Main functions

1. Space-Saving Compact Design
While supporting A0/E-size paper and 4-roll feed, the LP-2050 offers the world’s smallest compact footprint of 1200 mm/47″ (W) and 640 mm/25″ (D), which saves space and provides easy printer positioning in small workspaces.

2. The High-Speed Print Engine and a New Output System Improve Productivity
The new high-speed print engine achieves print speeds of 9 A1-size prints per minute 9.5 D-size prints per minute. Moreover, the LP-2050 automatically delivers small prints to a special catch tray and large prints to an optional stacker . This saves time for sorting prints and improves workflow efficiency.

3. A0/E-size High-Speed Color Scanner (optional upgrade for LP-2050-MF)
The integrated scanner scans at speeds of up to 240 mm/9.4″ per second (Black and white: 300 dpi, Color: 150 dpi). The latest scanner controller creates data in high speed by optimizing scanned images. Moderate scanning (60 mm/2.36″ per second) is available for scanning old or damaged originals.

4. User-Replaceable Process Cartridge and Charge Wire Unit
SIIT has put the photosensitive drum, a major cause of image failure, into a user-replaceable cartridge. This unique user-replaceable process cartridge and charge wire configuration allows anyone to replace them when needed. This eliminates service calls, and reduces downtime significantly.

5. Large, Easy-To-Use 8.5″ Color Touch Panel
Large 8.5″ color GUI (Graphical User Interface) offers improved visibility and visual guidance for intuitive and simple operation.

6. Automatic Roll Paper Width Detection
The new Teriostar LP-2050 can detect the paper width and set it automatically. Users do not need to set the roll paper width manually or every time loading different width of media.

7. New Software Suite Included
A new software suite is now included to streamline document input/output workflow.

a) Batch Print Function
LP-2050 supports various data formats such as HP-GL, TIFF and PDF. With simple drag-and-drop operation, users can batch print multiple files in supported file formats.

b) Viewer Function
Users can now view the data with a simple drag and drop operation to the viewer window (Viewable data: TIFF, PDF, JPEG and PNG)

c) Scan to File
A new scan driver converts wide format drawings to TIFF and PDF files. With optional color scanning upgrade, JPEG and BMP files can be created in color, too.
