SII NanoTechnology and KLA-Tencor Launch Strategic Marketing Alliance
KLA-Tencor to distribute the SII NanoTechnology Nanopics -compact tabletop probe microscope- in Europe and the U.S.

SII NanoTechnology and KLA-Tencor have launched a strategic marketing alliance. KLA-Tencor has started marketing the Nanopics -compact tabletop probe microscope developed and manufactured by SII NanoTechnology-, as the sole distributor for this product in Europe and the U.S.

In recent years, the extreme miniaturization of electronic devices and recording media has underscored the importance of profile measurement. For measurements in this field, profiling using a Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM) has proven to be the most effective, enabling high resolution 3-D measurement. SII NanoTechnology and KLA-Tencor plan to build on their respective leading-edge expertise and leverage their partnership for device and manufacturing process measurement and analysis.

Nanopics is an tabletop size, inexpensive, and easy-to-use atomic force microscope (AFM) for surface evaluation. Nanopics utilizes a Voice Coil Motor (VCM) as the drive mechanism, which enables wide-range observations up to a maximum range of 800 x 800μm, the largest available SPM scan range. It also features a self-sensitive cantilever, which drastically shortens the probe replacement time and improves usability, while minimizing the reliance on operator skill level. There are currently over 400 Nanopics customer installations.
