SII Releases "IC Dictionary SR-T7100," the Ideal Dictionary for English Learning Featuring 2 Large-Scale English/Japanese Dictionaries, 2 Collocation Dictionaries and Increased Toughness with Use of Magnesium Alloy Material

Seiko Instruments Inc. (Abbreviation: SII; President, COO & CFO: Yukihiko Chayama; Head Office:8, Nakase 1-chome, Mihama-ku, Chiba-shi, Chiba; Tel: 043-211-1111) will release at the end of September “IC Dictionary SR-T7100,” an electronic dictionary featuring four large English/Japanese dictionaries, making the dictionary ideal for studying the English language.

The model to be released includes four large English/Japanese dictionaries including “The Kenkyusha Dictionary of English Collocations,” “Unabridged Genius English/Japanese Dictionary,” “Reader’s English/Japanese Dictionary” and “Reader’s Plus,” as well as three English/English dictionaries including “Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary,” “Concise Oxford Thesaurus” and “Oxford Collocations Dictionary.” In particular, the two dictionaries “The Kenkyusha Dictionary of English Collocations” and the “Oxford Collocations Dictionary” which provide the English learner with the word-for-word idiomatic ties of the English language are extremely helpful to those who need to write in English.
In addition, SR-T7100 utilizes a new and sophisticated design of the highly popular magnesium alloy material used in the SR-T7030MG model released as a limited edition in July. Magnesium is an attention-getting material superior in characteristics such as strength, rigidity and impact resistance that is used with cellular phones and notebook PCs. With its increased toughness, the SR-T7100 electronic dictionary is easy-to-use.

[Main Features of Included Dictionaries] (Some of the search features may be subject to change by the date of release)
1. Permits example sentence searches using eight dictionaries
The new dictionary allows the user to search four English/Japanese dictionaries, the Japanese/English dictionary “Kenkyusha’s New College Japanese/English Dictionary” and three English/English dictionaries for example sentences that include a specified word. The number of example sentences included in the dictionary exceeds 612,000 (according to an SII study).

2. Provides collocation dictionary example sentences that describe the word-for-word idiomatic ties of the English language
The shortest avenue to using natural English is to learn about idiomatic groupings of English words (i.e., collocations). By coupling “The Kenkyusha Dictionary of English Collocations,” which provides Japanese translations of examples, with the corpus-based “Oxford Collocations Dictionary,” the new electronic dictionary allows the user to check word groupings from various aspects.

3. Four convenient search methods for “The Kenkyusha Dictionary of English Collocations”
“The Kenkyusha Dictionary of English Collocations” offers four different search features: an English/Japanese search, collocation search, example sentence search and translation search. Specifically, the translation search allows the user to search for and check the collocations of an English keyword using Japanese.

4. Simultaneous inclusion of six Japanese language dictionaries
The new dictionary features six Japanese language dictionaries, including “Hyakkajiten Maipedia Denshijishoban” (“My Encyclopedia, Electronic Dictionary Version”), “Koujien” and “Tsukaikata no Wakaru Ruigo Reikai Jiten” (“A Dictionary of Synonyms in Japanese”). The dictionary also features a wealth of Japanese language dictionaries as well.
